  4. "Good as a last resort"

    1.0
    Former Contractor - Software Developer

I worked at Equal Experts for more than a year

    Pros

Contractor friendly Once you're in the network you can likely get a gig with little hassle. It's good for permitractors, those who want the day rate of a contractor but like to sit at one organisation (you might get rotated between clients) and not have to interview anywhere for years. If you like the conference scene, doing no work day to day other than preparing for your next talk then they'll happily have you on board while you're charged to their client. You'll just have to big them up at the next EE sponsored conference.

    Cons

It's not too surprising the amount of positive reviews on here. Once you work for EE you'll hear other associates and employees talking about how everyone they hire is so fantastic. In reality the test at interview is not much more difficult than fizz buzz, so the bar is actually low perhaps it wasn't before, lots of people speak of problems relating to growth People like being told they're good but this unfortunately leads to arrogance. This is most apparent in their people/hiring team, I was told before joining that there was no way any other consultancy could form a team of the same calibre as EE. There's is a definite superiority complex among associates who'll dismiss any other consultantancy as profit hungry and inefficient. In reality there is little difference between EE and the lines of Accenture & Capgemini aside from size of organisation and a weird cult following. EE position themselves as agile transformation experts i.e. quick in and out, improve things, down tools and move on. This is not true they will maybe down tools and move on if a gig is so bad that all their associates threaten to leave, and that's only if they can place them elsewhere at the time. Ask them how long they've had HMRC as a client. The day rates are pretty poor for London

  5. "Good craftmanship, terrible recruiting"

    3.0
    Former Contractor - Developer
    Doesn't Recommend
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at Equal Experts for less than a year

    Pros

    - Writing clean code - Pragmatic approach to delivering software

    Cons

Recruiting for projects is broken. The internal recruiters are terrible at their job (late for calls, never getting back to you) and they also try to poach people for non-EE projects for their own gain.

    Pros

People Management is exceptional, always supportive in ensuring YOU are happy with client and the CLIENT is happy. Amazing client list. Great flexibility with WFH.

    Cons

Not all associates are experts, nor tested on a regular bases - ultimately contradictory to their name.

I have been working at Equal Experts for more than a year

    Pros

Mature working environment with a culture of autonomy. A good community of people within the network to call upon for advice and guidance on technical challenges or experiences. A broad range of clients and projects, often greenfield. Once you are on the network moving on to the next project is relatively straight forward.

    Cons

"Tech Lead" positions are seemingly handed out at random, it can be demoralising to have the weakest link in the team asserting themselves because they've been handed the title. Developers are spoken of and treated as an interchangeable resource, any given one is as good as the next. On the one hand it can lead to you not feeling particularly valued but on the other it means no eyelids are a batted if you request to switch projects. The policy of working on client site means that you will usually be in 'the spare room' at the clients office which is rarely the prime spot. It does though mean that there are opportunities to look for projects that suit your travel preferences.

I have been working at Equal Experts for more than 3 years

    Pros

Been with EE for little over 4 years and never feel like leaving. Most satisfying 4 years of my working life. Met great minds, challenging people, always pushing boundaries of what is possible. EE has the best work-personal life flexibility culture, at times made me thankful to the company. Exposure to multiple technologies, skillset, clients makes you a true consultant. Transperancy in operations and value given to each consultant is great.

    Cons

Sad to see some great people leave, and great strategies / wins along with them, At times, its difficult to keep up with what we have created.
