Pros

-I have met with extremely smart people at CGG. The Company has bleeding edge processing systems that are challenging and fun to work with. -They hire recent graduates, so it's a good company to work for if you want to start in oil and gas. -Well known in the market. Good resume builder. -Great campus and facilities. -Good 401k -Good Health Benefits -Flexible work hours

Cons

The career development structure in this company is terrible. Your technical skills and knowledge won't bring you anywhere unless you play the game of politics. You will see lots of mid-upper level managers in CGG that has no technical skill-set or character to be a manager. Most of them are in those positions because of their good-old-buddy network. This drives the smart people away from the company. There are lay-offs due to current oil and gas market, which is understandable. However, I think CGG is not handling the situation right. Instead of doing one mass layoff and be done with it, they distribute it to the days and weeks. This creates an extremely scare-driven and depressing work environment. Everybody gets nervous when they see HR walking the floors, and people lose their focus on their work. Very poor upper management. They blame the low oil and gas prices, but they keep forgetting the terrible financial decisions that they made in the past. Check the financial results, and the stock prices, you will see...

Pros

Viridien is a great company to work for, with a positive and professional working environment. The company has a strong international footprint, a diverse mix of nationalities and backgrounds, and a good balance of technical depth and business ambition. Colleagues are friendly, collaborative, and highly capable, and the leadership team is generally accessible and open to discussion. The work can be challenging and intellectually interesting, especially for people who enjoy technical, global, and client-facing environments.

Cons

Career progression could be much clearer and more structured. Promotion paths, development plans, and expectations for advancement are not always easy to understand, which creates uncertainty for employees who want to grow within the company. Salaries are also slightly below market average in some areas, and compensation should remain competitive to retain strong talent. Like many global technical companies, priorities can also shift quickly, so clearer communication and consistency would help.
