Low pay, chronically understaffed, good hours, decent benefits - Medical Office Specialist Virginia Cancer Institute Employee Review

Pros

9-5 hours, off weekends and major holidays, good as an entry position

Cons

Low pay, chronically understaffed, no breaks, high stress, difficult to move up. When you get good at your job they pay lip service to advancement, but won't move you to a better position. As they're always understaffed, they'll train anyone new in a different role and keep you in your low level, but now experienced position.

Pros

Consistent raises each year, EOY bonus, career ladder opportunities, great group of docs, excellent clinical teams, wonderful patients, M-F no weekends, flex schedule availability, opportunities for advancement to different roles.

Cons

staffing in healthcare has been tight since COVID - they continually work to interview and hire into any open roles to help alleviate this.
