Pros
I've read the reviews from former employees and what they have listed as problems 1 year ago I have yet to see any glaring problems or anything former employees have said were issues. I met my current boss at a hiring event as we were both outside taking a break from the "festivities" and he's the one who sold me on the company.
-Very flexible with work hours, Teleworking is an option if needed with minimal obstacles.
-I was a little low balled as far as pay goes, but compared to other companies I've talked to and worked for Veris Group offered the third highest salary.
-The team I work on is full of highly competent individuals.
-This is the first company I've worked for that actually has that "family feel" I do sincerely believe the company is invested in me.
-I was hired a few steps above the normal work I've done so far, this job essentially started off with a promotion.
-Monthly team building luncheons are always fun.
Cons
-Very limited interaction with Corporate office from client site and other teams in the company. Everyone seems very friendly when we do interact, inter-team relationships seem largely non existent for a small-medium company.
-Haven't had any feedback negative or positive on work performance yet as I came in after the annual review.
-Haven't been able to take advantage of any of the training opportunities as of yet, this is a combination of workload and personal lack of awareness.
-Work can be very tedious at times, but that's fairly standard across the board with all companies and customers in cyber security.
-Timelines can highly unrealistic. Based on workload and standard time frames, at the date of writing this I have about 18 months of work in my queue. (Again however this is cyber security as a whole so it's to be expected)
-Pro/Con there doesn't appear to be much oversight on tasking. This is in no means a request for micro managing, we are all professionals here.
Each task is individually assigned with minimal collaboration so each task is done to personal preference provided it abides by set standards and guidelines. This is great if you are familiar with a program, project, or system... If you aren't familiar with the program/project/system you are essentially on your own to figure it out. C'est la vie.
-Final Con, I don't know my standing with the company, or how long my employment is with the company. I've yet to be informed how long my contract with the company is, there was no set expiration date, which means I could be with this company for 20 years... or looking for a job tomorrow.
