Real hands-on experience working in projects with mentor oversight. Lots of help learning new subjects when heeded. Real world experience of meeting with clients and discussing software functionality, intended goals and feature handling.

Sometimes moved pretty fast. There were a couple times when I was tasked with something that ended up swallowing all my time because of a near deadline.

Valkyrie is a true team-first company. I love the environment and the people as well as the flexible hybrid schedule. It is very scientist-focused so a lot of the events (such as a hack-a-thon) are implemented with the science team in mind. The pay is good and the projects are always interesting and bring positive impact to our clients. I love that Valkyrie also engages in probono work and believes in maintaining good mental health among its staff.

A lot of events and themes are catered to scientists which makes sense, being a science company. At times I found it hard to feel valued, not having been a scientist or Account manager. Working in a department like marketing can feel like you're on an island most days, especially if you don't have a department head to follow that knows the in's and outs of your job. Another con is that you have to be gritty to survive start up culture. Because there was no marketing department, it was pretty intense to jump into this position without a well-seasoned marketing director who understands campaign structure, digital marketing and B2B strategy.
