Pros
At UA, you are working with some of the best photographers, videographers, retouchers etc in the business, there's no doubt about it. The team is extremely knowledgeable of their craft and in general co-workers are all very friendly. The CEOs are enthusiastic to purchase new equipment and software to give the company an edge.
Cons
While the CEO's are friendly, they are a total boys club. Female photographers who start junior roles at reception are generally not given opportunities to grow into other creative roles. It is expected that you to do a lot of unpaid overtime. Middle management are old photographers that have been promoted to management roles and often lack empathy and basic managerial skills. There were times I heard middle management complaining of full-time staff members taking sick days, once jeering "Everyone's sick these days!" loudly enough to intimidate nearby workers. Favouritism was also rampant in middle management and they treated some employees very badly by publicly complaining and comparing them to others. Some full-time employees were made part time, then casual and then dropped in a matter of months because management simply didn't favour them. I doubt they stopped to consider that their behaviour affected their employee's ability to be invested in the company.
