Pros
If you are interested in hospitality clients, this could be a great learning experience.
Cons
I came into this agency, very excited by the potential of the work. The president seemed tough, but I was very hopeful this would be a tough boss who in the end cares about his employees and wants the best for the company.
Unfortunately, when I left the company I felt like I was leaving an abusive relationship. My confidence plummeted, I doubted my intelligence. Prior to this, I had always felt my work efforts were appreciated and that I was very capable.
In this position I felt like I was constantly getting yelled at, and seeing others in a similar position. I believe this was sometimes due to the President's own confusion/lack of remembering what was discussed.
It seemed copywriting would take hours upon hours of re-writing - even often perfectly good copy (in my option). I'm unsure if this is due to his ego or neuroses.
I worked 60 hour work weeks, and in the end never really felt appreciated. I would dread conversations with the president. Many of us at the agency confided in one another that we were often unsure when a temper tantrum would strike.
I also think it's strange there are not more reviews. I can't help but wonder if there is a sense of fear that hangs over people, or a loyalty akin to Stockholm syndrome.
This is only my opinion, but I think you should know what you're getting into.
