Pros

Some of the people are really great, and you’ll make a few friends for life. Pension is good and healthcare ok.

Cons

1. Cliques - too many of them... Boys clubs and backstabbers. Take nobody at face value! 2. Management - want to have your day to day job picked apart, by someone who hasn’t done your job? This is the company to join! They’ll also take credit for the work you do! Some will overstate what their team members achieve to make sure they hit target and get commissions... 3. Targets - Unrealistic and unachievable. Even when you give managers the verbatim customer feedback, they don’t care. You’ll be the one raked over the coals (in front of your peers most of the time!). 4. Products - They don’t listen to the customer and instead build what they believe people want... That’s why customers are leaving to competitors in hoardes! 5. Pay - It’s average. Competitors will match and (in most cases) pay more, with a better opportunity to earn commission. 6. PR - just look at most of the replies to the reviews on here! No heart, or individual response... Copy/paste from the ‘Good Guide to Business Response; 1984’ 7. Boulevard of Broken Dreams - You want that promotion? Tough... You’ll do extra work to earn it, and not get it anyway! Training?... Nope! Not for you! 8. Elite Holiday - Excellent for those people who fiddle figures to make themselves look better... Or work on the renewals team. Even a couple who brown nose with the Directors! You work hard, day in day out, and over achieve?... You’re not going anywhere!

Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry to read your experience wasn't a good one, this isn't what most of our 14,000 colleagues have, although we are not complacent as we want each and every colleague to have a great experience working here. If there's any suggestion of wrong-doing, it should be reported confidentially to SafeCall as outlined in our Code of Conduct. All feedback on Glassdoor is taken seriously and each review receives an individual response. Currently 26% of our vacancies go to internal candidates and in some countries this is as high as 45% which demonstrates the value we place of developing colleagues at Sage. We do benchmark our salaries with the market and pay competitively and have great opportunities to excel as well as our award winning benefits. We know listening to our customers and giving them what they need is the only way to keep customers for life - we've recently won a number of awards too - from innovation for 'Pegg' to Project of the Year award for Sage 50 transformation.

Pros

-Pay’s decent -Benefits are solid -The Sage Foundation feels like proper philanthropy -Some genuinely nice people -If you’re happy treating work as just a payslip and don’t mind things being a bit dull, Sage is actually quite a comfortable place to be. That stability is a real perk

Cons

-Far too many layers of middle management and general bureaucracy -The Ai push is getting a bit daft -Not especially innovative, so the work can feel quite uninspiring. I’m grateful to be employed, but if you’re after something more interesting, Sage will probably disappoint. That said, some people prefer it that way, fair enough -The office / hybrid requirements feel a bit pointless -Sage doesn’t tend to do layoffs, which is good, but it does mean there are quite a few people where you’re not entirely sure what they do. A lot of meetings, essentially. Even the positives come with trade-offs

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful and balanced review. We’re pleased to hear that you value your compensation and benefits, as well as the work our Foundation do, among the areas you’ve highlighted. We also recognise the points you’ve raised around bureaucracy, innovation, and the pace and focus of change. Different people are motivated by different things at work, and it’s helpful to hear honest perspectives on how our structure, processes, and priorities can impact day‑to‑day experience and engagement. Feedback like yours helps inform ongoing conversations as we continue to evolve our ways of working, use technology more meaningfully, and improve the products and experiences we create for our customers.
