Pros
Work from home, flexible schedule, ok pay
Cons
No benefits. We are supposedly contractors, but are treated as employees. The new platform and new rules have made Open English go from having mostly satisfied teachers and students to having NO satisfied teachers or students. Things used to be great. We had tons of hours. I was working from 40-50 hours a week. For the past 4 months, my hours have dropped. I am now getting 7-9 hours a week. Usually being scheduled 1 hour a day at 9 or 10 am. Add that to being scheduled 7 days a week. It makes it impossible to even work somewhere else and to keep my job at Open English. Things change so often that you need to check Teacher Announcements daily to be sure that you are doing things correctly now. It is horrible. I plan on sticking by to see if our CEO who is more worried about hanging out with Vin Diesel than what is happening to his company decides to realize that at the rate things are going, Open English will be an "it was great while it lasted" company by the end of this year.
