Pros

Team is great, there are managers that genuinely do care. Once fitness is improved and methods are learned you are left alone by managers. There are rare opportunities to grow

Cons

Little to no real world training, just told general safety information which mostly has no relevance. No pointers given on how to work efficiently or how demanding the job is, you’re just expected to be 100% efficient the moment you start. Very physically demanding, cycling 40+ miles every day and carrying heavy loads with little to no time to recover. Ive experienced falling asleep while cycling countless times. Flagged to managers but they didn’t care. The 25 min break is in reality 10 as you’re expected to have accepted an order and to start packing immediately at the end, then berated if not. Just 5 more minutes would allow for a better rest and more travel time to and from the break room. Targets are unattainable, there’s constant pressure for drivers to be faster. SLT are pressurising managers to have drivers to dispatch quicker, hit delivery times quicker. Never taking into account the real world blocks to that I.e bottlenecks at depot, issues with bike, missing bags, toilet / water breaks, traffic on roads or worse general fatigue. This also causes drivers to take serious risks on the road to hit timings. The bikes are routinely loaded to maximum capacity, I’ve experienced cycling up steep gradients with a fully loaded bike (200kg plus) and expected to deliver in a time window that’s based on a standard push bike. The constant stress on the bikes is also why there’s constant downtime, just because it can carry that load doesn’t mean it’s capable to carry it constantly. A statement that would resonate strongly with the drivers too. There’s plenty more issues which are currently being addressed hopefully they make our lives easier

The salary is decent and the hours are okay

Cons

The company is lacking in the organization as a whole. With a lot more cohesiveness it can be a great company to work for.
