Pros
A good training ground for someone fresh out of school, new into the industry / work force, or a student aggressively looking for a part-time working experience. You will not be properly guided or educated, however you will be given multiple tasks and associate with a complex environment which will make you grow relatively fast and independently. This can be a good thing (rough, but good) if you stay neutral and non-bias to everyday operations.
Cons
This is a traditional distributor company at its roots. It tries to revamp the business direction and planning towards digital (e-commerce) and new brands, however at the core of its belief is ultimately "how to make a good bottom line (profits)", therefore as much as you hear new ideas and values during meetings, things would ultimately change and plans will not be supported throughout if it conflicts slightly with Senior Management's concerns on the profitability of the company. This is, however, very normal for all traditional business models and management style. What is bothersome, is that the Senior Management (GM and onwards) are mostly great at giving grand talks to fresh and innocent employees about building their future and giving them good opportunities, where reality is that voices and ideas of ordinary employees are not genuinely respected and heard of, plans change on a frequent basis, employees work incredibly unhealthy hours (9am to as late as midnight, in the office), and the culture is heavy on hierarchy (doesn't seem so on the surface, but you will notice and learn about it throughout months working there) - you have to earn your place by being teacher's favorite pet. This company has been around for over 30 years in the beauty & cosmetics field, and is fortunate to have started the distribution / import / export business early to capture and obtain beautiful brands under its distribution and retail umbrella, but is unfortunately not a long term career building environment for a serious and positive person. [Remark: this company is family-owned, with hired CEO & CFO from external sources and they are not from the beauty / cosmetics background.]
