Pros
- you get what you put in- company has tons of written, recorded, and visual resources and tools to do your job, learn about the business, grow your career and also make professional connections internally and also with external professional networks. - opportunities to figure and solve problems, propose solutions, work on meaningful projects. And even if a project gets canceled / not approved, it is done respectfully and the work can be archived for future use. - emphasis on growth mindset, learning and moving on - enhanced focus on DEIB to help everyone learn (and not force them) on how to work better with folks from all walks of life and abilities. Personally as a parent, I feel welcomed here and not ostracized if I can't stay for an after hours happy hour. - love the professional development stipend, plus support for reasonable resources and tools to do your job - folks are eager to share knowledge-- just reach out and ask! - with the recent refreshed career competencies, it will help employes of every level figure out what's their growth path; and if it's a newer field, work with your manager/leader and People Ops to design the path unique to the org and needs - managers are being trained on what it takes to be an effective, kind and fair manager, and resources to get coaching when needed - lots of wellness days, holidays, and flexibility - generally really great for balancing the workday especially with kids or elderly family caretaking-- as long as you finish and have impactful work! - you get to travel to HQ to visit annually if you're remote from HQ, and you also get to travel to a team onsite anywhere in the US annually as well. - culture is great, and truly you're standing on the shoulders of giants. - fully remote - really excellent benefits
Cons
- lifestyle is similar to a series C startup life. Company has the resources, it's relatively stable, but high growth mode. You may see that as a positive or negative. - due to relatively lean teams, there will be times when there will be late nights and weekend work. Most managers are understanding if there's a stretch of overtime done, to recommend their reports to take time off to recover. - Pay-- we're average. We're nonprofit so we don't expect to be balling here-- but it's enough for a comfortable lifestyle to eat out often and take several family vacations during the year and live in a modest home. I know I can likely earn a lot more elsewhere, but I rather have the stability than to get affected in a LIFO situation at another company. - Because we're fully remote, I do sometimes miss the in-person aspect, so we really look forward to the on-sites that are still remote friendly. - I only have a 3 star for work-life balance below due to me being in HR. The field's been hard for anyone in HR the past 4 years since COVID with nonstop compliance changes, evolved practices and such.
