Pros

Great client. Staff is talented. Decent pay.

Cons

This review is for Nashville. They don't make a schedule there and you are expected to work weekends (as in Saturday and Sunday) frequently. You won't know this until the Friday before, so you can't make any weekend plans until Fridays at 8pm, lol! If you come in, nobody ever seems to say anything. However, if you don't come in they will be asking you why you weren't there or (this is funny) avoid you while saying "hi" to the staff for a few days...like back in middle school. They know exactly how many hours you've worked recently, but have no clue about your productivity. It's always about your hours. Hours, hours, hours. If you're being 2-3x more productive that others, it doesn't matter because you weren't in last weekend. Another hilarious tactic they did was go around personally to each person, usually on a Friday around 2pm (lol) and ask if each employee would be in over the weekend. I thought this was really funny because some micro manager must have told them to do this because people are more likely to cave in face-to-face, especially when you can give them a disappointed look when they say no. Why not just assign a schedule like every other employer?!?! I think it's because they don't want to see their expectations on paper - they know they would be dancing around labor laws. I saw at least 8 GOOD people quit (because they were burned out) while I was there. What does that tell you? What do all of these Glassdoor reviews tell you? Also, this is a job appeals to artists mostly. How many artists do you know who have something they are working on, outside of work? Regular people have things to do outside of work as well. What happens when you take it all away? You get what is going on there now. All that leaves is a skeleton crew that is getting burned out.

Pros

Decent pay (though they constantly add more and more responsibilities without pay increases), health insurance is good

Cons

Related is the worst company I have ever worked for and Hudson Yards is the epitome of Instagram culture— totally fake. The center is an absolute joke. They don’t care about anything on the inside, just what the outside looks like. Things are constantly broken (windows, accessible doors, escalators, elevators, bathrooms). Their response to Covid for hourly employees was so bad more than 20 people tested positive within one week. The corporate employees do not care about the customer service part of the company— they will see you every single day and not even say hello. The corporate side has incredible facilities and employee rest areas; the hourly employees break room doesn’t even have air conditioning (as far as we could tell the only thing it did have was Covid floating all over). Whether you are full time or part time you have to have open availability and they will not work with you to create a “set schedule” so your days off change every week/month. Some departments only schedule their full time employees 30 hours a week. There is absolutely no respect from upper management, who have been known to take pictures of employees they do not think are working hard enough. Working for Related will bring out your worst qualities and there is absolutely no motivation to do better. 3 people committed suicide in the past year on the property and they act like there was no way to stop it saying things like “these things happen.”
