Pros

really talented people at the working level

Cons

Executive level in BT Global Services very weak. In the Americas, beyond weak. Typical non-confrontational Europeans. Very passive aggressive. Execs do not like people at any level challanging anything, prefer group think workers who fall in line. Benefits (Health) are horrendous. Basically catestrophic coverage. Growth targets do not align with industry growth. Last 3 yrs, targets not met as a result and bonuses not paid. Pay raises are not given when employees are promoted. It is against policy in the UK which is applied globally. Constant "value for money exercises". Translation, look at all employees making above $X's and remove from the business and reallocate their work to lesser paid employees. As a result, Service Delivery and Service Assurance have suffered impacting end customers. Constant offshoring of critical delivery work which impacts end customer. Systems and tools supplied to workers are behind competitors, makes for a frustrating work environment. Semi-Annual performance rating, mandatory "leveling" of employees because company not achieving targets. Blame the workers mentality rather than reviewing business strategy and holding thse who developed it responsible. Will violate comapny policy about hiring spouses in same office on a whim. Does not understand American culture or mindsets. Will get schooled in contract negotiations because of Europen mindset. Will actually put in writing confirmation of bonus payment, then not pay it. Will say a "mistake" was made for the non-payment reason but will not correct the mistake. Actual quote from HR: "We don't pay the best, we don't pay the worst. We pay somewhere in the middle. If people don't like it, they can go somewhere else" Depending on what part of the business you are in, a typical work week could average 50-80 hours a week.

Pros

Benefits are better than most US companies. You get twice or triple the numbers of days off per year.

Cons

Focus is more on originating company location for group events and emails. Due to time zone differences, it can be difficult to work with others without adjusting your schedule. It is difficult to get promoted outside originating country. Roles are few and far between in the US.
