Pros

You will learn a lot, but you will be treated as a workhorse and not a human.

Cons

The new ownership has taken ArtHouse in a direction that I ultimately could not work under. I consistently felt disrespected, observed clients being treated without care, and experienced my design work being routinely put down, which significantly limited my growth as a creative. Expectations around workload were unrealistic, with an implied requirement to work well beyond 40 hours a week despite already doing so regularly, contributing to a severe lack of work–life balance. Communication from leadership often felt passive-aggressive or hostile, and there was a clear abuse of power when frustrations arose. There is no formal review or feedback system, and attempts to initiate conversations around pay, systems, or improvements were shut down or reframed in a way that positioned employees as the problem rather than addressing legitimate concerns. As a designer hired for my creativity, being explicitly told to “be less creative” was deeply discouraging and emblematic of a culture that stifles growth rather than supports it. Watching concepts be dismissed in favor of leadership’s own ideas during presentations was frustrating and had a direct negative impact on my development as a designer. The workplace lacks flexibility, rules continue to tighten, and favoritism is evident, with expectations applied inconsistently across staff. I often felt concern not only for myself, but for my coworkers and clients as well. I would not recommend this environment to anyone seeking a supportive, respectful, or growth-oriented workplace—especially creatives.
