Impactful place to work with collaborative culture, but complex processes - Manager Appfire Technologies Employee Review

Pros

What I value most about Appfire is the opportunity to make a real impact. The company fosters a collaborative and supportive culture where teams work effectively across functions and geographies. The international environment brings diverse perspectives, making collaboration both engaging and enriching. It's a place where ideas are welcomed, ownership is encouraged, and individuals can see the direct results of their contributions.

Cons

One of the challenges at Appfire is the complexity that comes with being a company built through multiple acquisitions. While this creates a diverse portfolio of products and expertise, it also means that aligning processes, ways of working, and organizational approaches across teams requires significant coordination and time. As a global organization of around 800 employees supporting the Atlassian ecosystem, ensuring consistency and maintaining a unified approach across different business units can sometimes be challenging. However, this also creates opportunities to shape and improve how the organization operates at scale.

Pros

- Culture that seems to actually care about its employees - Genuinely wonderful co-workers

Cons

- Heavily tied to Atlassian marketplace. As such, if Atlassian decides to make a tool that does what one of Appfire's apps does, that's lost revenue for Appfire. Similarly, if people start switching away from Atlassian products, they will have no need for Appfire products. - When I was let go as part of a reduction in force, it was a mere month or so after the most recent all hands where they claimed everything was great and that the last thing they'd ever want to do is let go of people. This also was preceded by the founder/CEO stepping down and a new CEO taking his place.
