Pros
Personal truck (if you don't get one that breaks down constantly). You're in charge of your work day. Management will usually leave you alone if you get your work done. Gas card. Working alone outdoors.
Cons
Lots of managerial turnover. Management kind of makes it up as they go along. Training is hit or miss. With the hiring of dozens of new untrained people this is quickly becoming a big corporation type company instead of what it used to be, where you felt like a family. Now you feel more like a number. Utilities (contract holders) are constantly adding new paperwork and pile on new routines. Utility staff treat contractors like trash. Terrible pay for the hard and dangerous work you do.
