Pros

Health Benefits, thats literally it

Cons

I worked at Madrone Crisis Residential. They have bad management. In a year I saw a lot of changes in supervisor and managers. Two different ones quit. Other staff at the agency came to help and left because it was a mess. Also saw a lot of other program specialists come and go. Turnover rate is high and its for good reasons. The supervisor has a lot of her family/family friends working there and A LOT of favoritism happens and click like behavior happens here. People she knows getting promoted before the agencies 6 month wait to transfer rule. You dont always get a lunch and they try to blame it on employees and make it mark it on your timecard as an unpaid lunch. They take good employees for granted who actually care about the mission, clients and the job. Many times this program is UNDERSTAFFED and wants to cut corners/save money and it comes at the cost of most employees not the agency. Not enough relief staff either. Pay is not great! Other similar programs for adult mental health residential work pay better. I dont recommend residential work pretty much at all but ESPECIALLY at Madrone. Dont even bother!!! Also Human Resources and Employee Relations person HR shares personal employee information with multiple staff in the agency and people they personally know who dont even work at the agency. In all honesty this is ONE OF THE ABSOLUTE WORST JOBS Ive ever had. I'm so relieved I no longer work here!

Pros

Make your own work schedule, collect hours for licensing, don't have to work in the same place everyday.

Cons

The workload and demands are unattainable, often micromanaged due to the unattainable requirements, favoritism and nepotism are rampant. This is a toxic workplace that does not support a teamwork atmosphere. Interdepartmental infighting. Think mean-girls club, post high-school. Lack of insight and foresight into the promises they make for the community as well as for contracts they are bidding for. I don't think I got more than 4 hours of sleep a night during the regular work week, due to work demands, and often worked through my weekends to catch up, which also proved to be in vein. The workload is just not attainable. Between running around all of Santa Clara County in order to meet with clients (not all of which is beneficial time spent for proof of your "productivity"). There are many other cons, but the PTSD is too much to deal with in listing it all out.

Pros

-gained a lot of experience -a lot of different trainings -benefits are great -team is very supportive -it can be fun working with the kids

Cons

-a lot of micromanaging and emphasis on numbers -favoritism for those who reach numbers -for those who reach numbers, they have said themselves that they work overtime, UNPAID, and do not have a life on the weekdays (and sometimes even weekends) -impossible to reach productivity rate in the paid time given -will be taken advantage of if you don't set boundaries -no proper training on how to carry out sessions with interventions. Expected to wing it which is harmful for clients -high turn over rate because of this
