Pros

Some people are cool, health insurance is pretty decent, pension is still around you get grandfathered after 3 years if you can last that long.

Cons

Super Honest and real review I have nothing against the company I just think someone needs to drive them to change. Employees: 75% of the company are lifers riding out their pension or else they would of left already. 25% are somewhat new people that think they're coming in for a good opportunity then realize what the hell did I do. Its funny seeing the excitement people come in with, then seeing their expressions completely change to zombie mode after 2 months. Culture: You ever walk into a swamp and feel that difference in the air quality which makes you uncomfortable. That's the vibe this office gives you every time you walk in... everyone is miserable and stressed, everyone wants to quit, and turnover is high. Cubicle life. Management: They aren't coaches they're bosses you dread about in movies, get ready to get fire-drills every second, be pulled around like a rag doll, have no organization or clear direction. On-boarding: Virtually no on-boarding, BIC does not invest in their employees to set you up for success, get ready to paper push and beg other people to teach you how to do things. Most roles don't even have a clear definition on what the role pertains or what your supposed to do. What they promise you in the interviews is just fantasy. Diversity: The office is not very diverse. Location: The office is in the middle of nowhere Shelton, nothing exciting is around so you definitely don't want to relocate here. Also commutes suck if you live northern CT, back to back traffic. Work Life Balance: NON-EXISTENT, 8am-5:30pm work hours, very strict on working from home even though HR book says otherwise, vacation time is 2 weeks to start but don't worry you can buy a third at your expense. Oh and by the way expect to work from home on weekends. Growth opportunity: You can move up the ladder but its more about who likes you vs how you perform. The Business: All of their category's are declining and they're struggling to figure out how to turn it around... Hard to make improvements when the company doesn't invest in their brands.

Sinking ship, toxic environment

Pros

If you want to start a career in CPG or getting close to retirement, BIC might be right place for you. Good place to start but definitely don't stay long term. No more than two years. there is not much opportunity to grow, learn new skill set or clear career path . If you want to stay competitive and top of your game , this is not the place.

Cons

Management lacks strategy and direction, it has toxic culture. Goals and strategy changes daily. No clear vision on where they want to go and how to get there. It's an unpleasant environment to work in, every week someone either gets fired or quits. It's a small company and they lack the resources. No corporate identity or values. Company is managed on politics and bureaucracy. Business has been on declining trend for years and they don't have the leadership to turn the ship around. Check their stock price for the last 10 years it tells the story, more than words.

Thank you for your note and for sharing your thoughts with us. We at BIC take feedback from our team members very seriously. We are sorry to hear that your experience has been less than ideal, and we want to take this opportunity to acknowledge that we hear you and to address your concerns. At BIC, we are proud of our company values of Integrity, Responsibility, Teamwork, Sustainability, Ingenuity and Simplicity. These values form the foundation of our company and define how we conduct business around the world. We want to emphasize that there is no place for toxicity at BIC, as we strive to maintain a culture of inclusiveness that enables all of our team members to achieve their best selves. We encourage you, and all team members, to speak with your managers or human resource business partners to address any issues or experiences that stray from these values. We also offer many growth and development opportunities. This includes annual goal setting and a robust, ongoing performance review process during which you are encouraged to discuss your individual career goals and expectations with your managers. This process is constantly reviewed and refined by our global human resources team, so feedback is always welcome. Last year, we launched the Horizon Plan, a comprehensive strategy aimed at driving long-term sustainable growth and profitability across our business. Enacting this plan has prompted several changes across our businesses and functions, which we understand can be difficult for some. We are immensely grateful to all our team members around the world who are integral to ensuring the success of our new strategy. This is why we recently launched the "Sharing Horizon" plan, which creates the opportunity for every BIC team member to become a shareholder. Again, we appreciate and welcome feedback from our team members. We encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts in a series of upcoming surveys and initiatives we have planned for our teams across the organization. We also want to emphasize that our human resources team is always available for you to help resolve any issues you are facing in the workplace. Thank you!

Pros

The brand is well recognized and respected. The people are great.

Cons

The company has been on a downward spiral for years now. Morale has never been lower and management does not seem to care. The only thing that matters is the bottom line and they do not care how many people are stressed, over worked, and ready to break. They punish employees if the numbers are not met instead of encouraging and looking for a new direction. This company used to be a great place to work, but now it is a toxic environment where management will not care about you or anyone else, just get the job done. People are leaving and being fired while they do not refill the positions and continue to pile more and more work on those that are left, no wonder everyone is quitting. There is no career development or discussions unless you work in sales or marketing and you can forget about internal growth or advancement, if doesn’t exist here! If an opportunity arises they won’t even consider you. Honestly, the culture is not at all a friendly environment or great place to work.
