I have been working at Banque Nationale du Canada/National Bank of Canada full-time (Less than a year)
Favourable and non-toxic work environment. Manager and team members alike, everyone is always ready and willing to teach and help with your growth. You are empowered to manage your role/responsibilities and take decisions and even if you make a mistake, you are not frowned upon, instead it is used as a learning opportunity. Direct and senior management have been clear on objectives and this is very helpful in shaping your mindset on how to integrate and how you can add value. You feel valued and are celebrated not just with big wins but the small wins also. This is the only bank on the block that still offers DBPP.
I don't have a con about NBC.
Advice to Management
Keep up the good work of shaping the company into an employee friendly/employee centric work environment by listening.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Banque Nationale du Canada/National Bank of Canada (Montreal, QC (Canada)) in December 2012.
So the hiring manager calls me, we setup an interview date. Come interview day, the meeting goes really well and the manager gives me positive feedback.
Then after many unreturned phone calls and emails, the trail goes cold. One week passes, then two, then three. What is up National Bank ??
I'm very disappointed to say the least. Speaking with friends that work at National Bank, not answering the phone and not returning repeated contacts appears to be standard operating procedure for letting a candidate know they are not accepted.
Obviously, I would not apply to work at National Bank again.
