Well, first of all they published a job ad in Stack Overflow with a salary that is triple the norm in Lisbon for senior developers. In the interview the guy who introduced himself as a project manager told that they are more than 100 developers in their office in hamburg, but their website does not look like a genuine company with 100 developers. I checked their address in the street view, which is also a small old building, I honestly doubt it can accommodate 100 persons.
The interviewer did not ask me any specific question and did not answer my questions on what they exactly do, just nonsense QAs.
IMHO either they're scam or they just accumulate CVs and interview data and forward it to real recruiters. So I immediately asked them by email to erase my CV and data after the interview.
Hi Anonymous, we are just about to open up an office in Lisbon next month and therefore published our job ads already. You are right about the salary expectation - this was our mistake which we already corrected. The picture you saw on Google Earth was taken six years ago - the six story building which is housing our office TODAY is four years old and was not build at that time. Just check out our homepage freiheit.com to get an impression of how our office looks like today. You will see a few of our over 100 colleagues on the pictures there. We are definitely not a "scam". We are a real company with 20 years of history in building large internet systems. Our interviews are also held by software engineers and not by a professional recruiter - therefore they are not like typical interviews but we are always grateful for feedback to ensure the best recruiting experience for all applicants.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at freiheit.com technologies in Jul 2018
Interview
First the company forgot about interview, second their interviewer was one guy(software engineer who was involved for recruiting process as he said) with full egoism. At the beginning of the interview I decided not to put efforts and just tried to understand the atmosphere in the company. Basically the interviewer started to tell that they are all experts (maybe) and you have to be a geek to work with them)) I even did not track their feedback about the interview. But they had a cool job advertisement. However , obviously the interview was either scam or formal.
Hi Anonymous, maybe sometimes something gets lost in translation when two non-native English speaking persons are talking about job opportunities. I can assure you, that our engineers are really friendly people and fun to work with. Although sometimes we can be a bit too geeky/nerdy and over a video call this might sometimes create a feeling of lower empathy. The interviews are all done by engineers and not by professional HR people. We know how important and difficult job interviews are. All of us have been through it! We know it sucks. Sorry, that we were not able to create a better recruiting experience for you.
