      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Shure (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2016

      Interview

I applied this position through a post that I found on Google, and then they contact me for an Video interview. For the video interview process, they gave me a website and they have some pre-recorded questions and each has about 3-5 mins to answer. In the website they recorded my response and review it offline. After about 1-2 weeks, I was informed that they want to move the hiring process forward with meeting 5 engineers in their DSP team including the manager. At first, they were trying to schedule 5 individual skype interviews since I was at California. After my phone call with the manager (the manager was great, very positive and the talk was stressless), they decided to fly me to Chicago for an onsite interview with other engineers. They pay for my flights, hotel, taxi and meals for the 2 days trip. The visiting at Shure was fantastic, the people in the DSP team are all very great and their facility is also very modern. They also give me a tour on their small museum about the history of Shure and their products from the past till now. The recruiter that organized all the interviews is also very flexible and efficient. I got the offer in the end but have to choose another company because the other company pays more. However, Shure has some stipend (about 800) for intern living outside of the state and their price is already pretty competitive. I would say the overall interviewing process is very pleasant and it's definitely a great place to work for.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They mostly asked me things that's on my resume, and asked me to describe some algorithm that I implemented before in the resume. There's also some technical questions including c/c++ programming, matlab programming, and DSP knowledge like the poles and zeros plots etc. There's also some questions about what I want to learn throughout the internship and some behavior questions. Most of the questions are pretty basic and the atmosphere when interviewing is pretty relaxed. It feels like they are just discussing question with you not like a stiff interview.

      Interview

After submitting the resume, next step was the one way virtual video interview. I have to answer some questions about resume and experience related. It was hard since I have to talk by myself without any response. I didn’t get to pass the interviews.
