      28 May 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Reynolds American in May 2012

      Interview

Had an initial phone screen with a 3rd party recruiting agency with standard interview questions and walking through resume lasting about 15 minutes. 2nd round interview via phone call with director walking through my resume and the role, which lasted about 30 minutes. Final round was a panel setting interview along with case analysis and presentation to the group.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Reynolds American (Winston-Salem, NC) in Sept 2015

      Interview

Had call from a recruiter to prescreen me. Was told I would hear back about a face-to-face within one week. Several weeks later, I got called for another phone screen with hiring manager. A week later I was invited to an onsite interview. I arrived on site and was met by someone from Talent Management. I was given a test (they called it a case study) to complete. The recruiter told me it wouldn't be heavy on numbers, but it was...I expected something more situational, but it was really like a college exam question complete with a calculator. I felt a bit ambushed. After the case study, I met with two people for my first session and two people for my second session with a long break in between. (Too much time allotted to cover the case study, apparently). When leaving my second session, I could see another candidate meeting with the first people. I felt it was irresponsible of them to allow me to see the other candidate - I could have known the person and not wanted them to know I was interviewing. I was told at the end of the process that I would either 1) get a call with an offer, 2) get a call from the recruiter saying I didn't get the role but they would be interested in talking to me about another role, or 3) get an email saying "we're not interested in you as a candidate now or later." I got the email. I found it offensive that they didn't take the time to call me and personally decline me after I took time to drive to their site and meet with them. Overall it was for the best since I didn't feel it would be a good fit so it's not sour grapes. All of the people were kind and professional. It just leaves a bad to taste to go through all of that and get an email that basically says, "Hey, we don't like you, but we hope some day you'll find someone who does."
