      Software Engineer Interview

      14 Aug 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Auckland, Auckland
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Plexure (Auckland, Auckland) in Apr 2021

      Interview

3 Interviews, 4 steps 1. Phone screen, 2. Talk to manager 3. Tech interview. 4. Offer The tech questions are so similar to a uni exam, they can do better if they change how to interview and ask more senior engineers to help. The overall experience is bad, it took almost a month between step 3 and step 2, the worst thing, is after all interview, the HR rang me to say they would like to give me an offer, they gave a number and said they would be making an offer next day. but two weeks later, HR said the job does not exist. What!? Making an offer for two weeks, then saying no offer. I would recommend people, if you have another option, do not go here, there is messy for the hiring process here.

      Software Engineer Interview

      14 Sept 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Plexure

      Interview

The interview process itself was pretty good. There was a technical take-home test consisting of a few different sections that roughly aligned with real world work. That was followed by an onsite interview with Delivery manager and another with two members of the technical team which was mostly discussing a combination of your answers on the take home and past work experience to gauge what your current skills are. I found everyone pretty pleasant. Received an offer but we couldn't come to an agreement due to their strange, and overbearing contract. It contained a clause stating you have to make yourself available to them to perform work at their request for unspecified remuneration for a few months AFTER your employment with them has ended. Presumably at which point you have another job and have contractual obligations to your new employer. I checked with a lawyer if you could execute both contracts and she indicated you would be in breach of at least one of them. The recruiter literally said to me they pulled the offer because I "got a lawyer involved". I had every right to do so under New Zealand law and she advised me correctly. Glad I dodged that bullet. Super fishy.

Thanks for your review of your application process at Plexure and pleased that you found it a positive experience. We do try to ensure that all our candidates are responded to and kept up to date with progress of their application. I think however that you may be confusing our contract with that from another organisation as there is absolutely nothing in our contracts that refer to being obligated to work after employment has ended. As you note, this would be unworkable and certainly not something we would endorse. In light of this, please would you amend your review as it stands incorrect at the moment? Many thanks, People and Culture Manager, Plexure.
