After doing a long skills test online (logic test, maths test, language test - apparently you need to know the word "vacuous"), i was invited for an in-person interview. It was a fixed term position to cover a parental leave. I fit most of the requirements, except one skill that was listed in the detailed job description - out of 10-12 skills.
Everything was going well until during the interview I was told that the I was supposed to be covering a person who is the team lead for that one skill.
When I asked why the fact that was the most important skill among all for this role, I just received a shrug.
