      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at MathWorks (Boston, MA) in Jan 2021

      Interview

The interview had 6 stages. 1) HireVue HR interview: basic behavioral questions. Prerecorded video answers to basic questions about EDG and MathWorks. 2) hackerrank coding challenge: 3 sections. One mandatory section, then pick one more out of the remaining two sections. Section 1 had statistics questions (probability), easy/ medium Math questions, and Matrix operations. Section 2 was a typical leetcode easy and medium question. Section 3 was multiple choice MATLAB syntax questions. 3) Technical Phone interview: lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. First step was going over the coding challenge from hackerrank and explaining your solutions or possible improvements to your solution. Interviewer asked a lot of questions about my resume and projects related to MathWorks products. The last questions were testing my understanding of python data structures. 4) Manager Interview: this was a behavioral interview. It was pretty laid back and fun. Ask good questions to the manager and show enthusiasm. 5) HR checkin: Brief 15 minutes interview to see if I had any unanswered questions. Wasn’t really an interview but was pretty helpful and informative. 6) On-site interview (virtual): this lasted for 4 hours including breaks in-between. This had 4 stages: Technical interview (2 hours), Manager interview (45 minutes), HR interview. The technical interview was similar to the previous technical interview but more detailed and asked more in-depth questions. The questions revolved around coding challenges, controls theory, partial fractions, basic calculus, etc. resume questions were also a big part of it. Manager and HR interviews were both behavioral. HR interview questions were the common behavioral questions everyone practices for (strengths, weaknesses, team work etc) They are really good at following up after each interview. Mostly took less than 2 business days to hear back after each stage. Next step was a phone call from HR basically saying that I have been offered the position. Offer came after the completion of background check a week later.

I applied online. I interviewed at MathWorks (Natick, MA)

      Interview

The interviewers were very helpful and did not seem intimidating at all. First there is a phone call with the manager where they just ask you what you want to do if you join mathworks. Then theres the technical interview. Another manager round and finally the HR round.

      Interview

They asked a low-level design question. There were two interviewers. One was just there to oversee and the other was a member of the EDG group who joined ~2 years ago.
