I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Mastercard (Purchase, NY) in Apr 2011
Interview
Studied abroad during application and interview process. Heard back in about one to two weeks for an interview. Was given a phone interview as an alternative instead since I could not physically be there for the in person interview. Only 1 round. Behavioral questions. General "Tell me about yourself" or "why do you want to work here" questions. Interviewed by HR who was nice. Interviewer hinted that I most likely would have gotten the job but needed to get back to me to be sure. Received the offer about 1 - 2 weeks later. Overall, positive interview experience. However, quite a bit of waiting for HR to respond. They may tell you they will get back to you by a certain date, but it will likely take longer and you may need to remind them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time when you were in a group and there was an issue. Describe the problem and what actions you took, as well as the impact of your actions.
pretty easy and well done, they are very kind. I would say it focuses mostly on behavioral, and your personal experience. The rest is something you can definitely learn in person.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mastercard (Saint Louis, MO) in Feb 2016
Interview
Phone interview with the hiring manager - mostly an informational interview, asked what past jobs I'd had, educational experience, extra-curricular activities. More conversational than hard skills or tests. As an intern, I didn't need too much former work experience, but needed to speak to how school, sports, and volunteer work shaped my skill set.
