I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Lids (Tempe, AZ) in Feb 2018
Interview
I was called for an interview for the Store Manager position, which is what I applied for. When I arrived for my interview, I was escorted by a 20-something year old gentleman to the food court. Apparently the location did not have an office for a manager to work out of, or to conduct an interview in.
The first thing he does is some weird monotone pitch about how Lids doesn't sell hats, that professional athletes sell hats and it's just Lids employees' job to sell a customer something different if Lids doesn't have what the customer is looking for, so that the customer keeps coming back.
I stare at him somewhat perplexed with what this could possibly have to do with store management.
The next thing the interviewer says is that they don’t have any manager or assistant manager positions open, another girl who already works there is their next candidate if a management position opens down the line, and that they only have customer service roles available (AKA 8 dollar an hour retail sales)
Then he asked me a question about a time that I provided great customer service.
I cut him off, told him that’s not the role I applied for, and tell him I don’t want to waste his time doing a whole interview for a role I am not interested in.
Interview started at 3pm. I was in my car by 3:05pm.
What a waste of my time.
2 interviews, one with another store manager in the district and the district manager. Very laid back. I just demonstrated that I am a dependable employee and I think that stood out.

Interview
One face to face five minute interview, where they asked no questions about your history or any personal. It felt like they didn’t care about “you” they just wanted to make sure that you could change to “one of them”

Interview
It was average. Be professional. Be prepared before you go into the interview. You are representing the company in the long run if you get hired so prep your responses and be confident when you answer them
