      Senior Product Manager Interview

      5 Mar 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at Inkitt in Mar 2020

      Interview

Terrible phone screening. They started the conversation by asking "You left your previous employer. Why was that?" There were long silences and a constant unfriendly atmosphere as if the interviewer was waiting for me to conduct the call. They asked nonsensical questions like "mention 5 KPIs that you have worked with", without any context. Finally, in the end, they ask me to email them the full name of my 5 most recent managers, and only after would they tell me the next step of the recruiting process. After reading the reviews of this company, I regret even having accepted to do this interview.

Hi there, Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your honest feedback with us. We are big fans of constructive criticism and anything that can help us improve as a company. Nonetheless, we are very sorry about your negative experience related to your phone screening, and we want to reassure you that we are continuously working to be better. Thanks to your feedback, we discussed the mentioned issue together in our team and reassured that this crucial step when candidates get first impressions of us will be the best one we can give. Additionally, we took a look at our screening guidelines in order to make this call the most efficient for both, us and the candidates. Thanks again for sharing your feedback and helping us get better. Feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions or further comments. All the best, Bartek Kreblewski Talent Acquisition Manager

      Senior Product Manager Interview

      2 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Inkitt (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2024

      Interview

Interview Process: I went through an extensive 8-week interview process with Inkitt, which included multiple rounds of video interviews, technical assessments, a presentation of a case study, a cultural team check, and finally, an on-site closing round at their San Francisco office. While the initial stages of the interview were handled well, the process became increasingly frustrating. Onsite Experience: Inkitt flew me out to their SF office for a final on-site interview. I was told that the objective of the on-site visit was for candidates to see the office environment and to feel comfortable before accepting an offer. Basically, the decision about my candidacy should have been made earlier from the company’s standpoint. The team members I met were friendly. However, despite being told that everything was looking great and they were just waiting for confirmation to extend an offer, I experienced delays in communication. Eventually, I was informed that the company decided to move forward with another candidate. Decision-Making Process: I observed that the CEO wants to run and involve himself in every decision, which might be a significant red flag for internal processes. While this is somewhat understandable for a growth-stage startup, it seems that people within the company don't appreciate his micromanagement leadership style. Expense Reimbursement: Their lack of consideration for candidate expenses, including airport transportation and lunch for a half-day onsite interview, needs to be improved. I had to cover approximately $150 in expenses out of pocket without receiving an offer. This might be acceptable for the chances of getting hired, but not when the outcome is negative. Overall Impression: The lengthy interview process and the false positive signals given to candidates is not ideal. Advice to Management: Keep the interview process shorter than 6 weeks. The cultural fit (WHO) session is unnecessary and overly subjective. Reconsider onsite invitations if you are on a limited budget. Ensure clear communication and provide clear feedback to candidates who make it to the final rounds.

      Senior Product Manager Interview

      25 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Inkitt in Dec 2022

      Interview

I had a phone screen with the recruiter who was very kind and helpful, and a first round with the hiring manager. The hiring manager gave me an unusually high amount of time to ask questions and it felt a lot like a two-way interview.
