      Account Manager Interview

      9 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Diego, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at GoFundMe (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2020

      Interview

I was really excited to interview with this company, as I am super passionate about charity work and have several years experience in Account Management. However, my experience with the recruiter was extremely unprofessional. She originally reached out to me over a month ago, we had a phone interview, she said she would follow up with next steps and I never heard back. About 2 weeks later, I followed up and it took 2 emails to get a response from her. We emailed back and forth regarding setting up a virtual interview. She gave me 1 time slot...which as a working professional, 1 time slot is hard to work around when you have to shift work meetings ect at your current company (which I would of course do; however, I think it is appropriate to provide a few times). Anyways, we scheduled a time and then I never heard back from her...again I followed up and she said she had to cancel last minute and would reach back out. And again, never heard back from her, so I followed up a week and a half later and I got a really unprofessional email response. I would recommend taking a look at the talent amongst your recruiting team. I have 6 plus years experience in account management and customer service, not to mention I am involved in charity work and I have fundraised thousands of dollars for non-profits. This recruiter wasted almost 5 weeks of my time, was extremely unprofessional in the sense she went dark on me many times and never responded. Situations like this are going to result in losing great talent to join your team!

      Interview

I cold-applied to the Account Manager role, not thinking too much about it because I knew GoFundMe was a big name and I don't have any connections there. To my surprise, about a week later, a recruiter reached out to me saying that they reviewed my application and they wanted me to apply through this link attached in the message...which was the same application I had applied with a week prior. I was excited for the company and role though, so I brushed it off, resubmitted the application and let the recruiter know I applied with their link. They confirmed receipt and said they would have an update by the end of the week. The end of the week passes without an update, so the following Monday, I shoot the recruiter an email asking for an update. The recruiter emails back within a few hours letting me know that they filled the role...but feel free to connect with them on LinkedIn in case more roles open up! Why on earth would you ask someone to REFILL out the entire application when you clearly had other candidates in the pipeline that were in the final stages of the interview process? Needless to say, this brief experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I was bummed at first but I am glad I dodged the bullet if this is how candidates are treated.
