I had an initial interview with a recruiter at Gilead, and unfortunately, it was one of the more frustrating interview experiences I've ever had in the past few years. The recruiter kept pushing me to identify the exact number of times I've performed a very specific type of task in my career (this was completely nonsensical — imagine asking an IT worker to give you a number on how many times they've handled login issues, it's something so routine and frequent that it's nearly impossible to quantify). So from the get-go there was an amateur vibe underpinning the whole discussion. The recruiter also didn't manage to finish the entire list of questions she had for me and ended up sending me a follow-up email with more questions from the hiring manager. It felt disorganized and lacked respect for my time. While Gilead seems like a good company with exciting work ahead, this interview process left me with little interest in moving forward. If this is how they treat candidates from the outset, I wouldn't feel confident moving further through the process.
