I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Epic in Feb 2012
Interview
I initially applied online, and also forwarded a cover letter and a resume to a recruiter whose contact information I received through a friend who previously interviewed (and had the best things to say about Epic). I received a response from the recruiter in only a few hours. She confirmed that HR would evaluate my application and I'd hear back in about 2 weeks. It only took a week for me to receive an e-mail about taking an online personality test. I was careful and honest with my answers, did not think too much into what they were looking for... A week later, I received an e-mail with date/time options for a phone interview. A week after that- I had my phone interview. It was more of a chat than an interview. The interviewer was young, as almost everyone is in the company, and it was a comfortable chat. He led with a few questions and I was comfortable talking about myself. He appreciated the fact that I was prepared and had done my research about Epic, Madison, and the IT / healthcare industry. I told him openly that I'm very excited about Epic and want to go to Madison to interview in person. He let me know that he'd recommend me for the next step and that I'd hear back in 2 weeks after HR evaluates the recommendation. It only took 1 week to hear back that I was invited to Madison. They booked my flight and hotel, and invited me to dinner with other candidates the night before the interview. The attire for dinner as well as the interview was casual: jeans / khakis / t-shirts / hoodies. Everything about my visit was very well planned. Every instruction was carefully written. My whole experience was smooth sailing. Not to mention, I had SO MUCH fun. Dinner was awesome, I enjoyed getting to know the other candidates as well as my hosts. The interview day: campus tour, lunch in the cafeteria, presentation on the company / applications, going down the famous slide- so much fun. The interviews themselves (I had two, one for each position- PM and TS) casual like my phone interview. I was given a "case study" in each. Given a situation, they asked me how I would handle it. I thought that was easy... At the end of the day, I took the assessments, then went back to the airport. PS: The food in the cafeteria was AMAZING. I heard they train their chefs in Europe.
