      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Eaton

      Interview

I applied for this position via the Eaton careers website. In a few days I received an email from their HR rep to set up a brief pre-screen call with her. The pre-screen was typical in terms of validating my past experience, career goals, willingness to relocate, etc. My information was then shared with the hiring manager. As my background was highly aligned to the job description, we had a phone interview a few days later. The interview was typical where we walked through my career and discussed a few hypothetical scenarios. I believed there was enough interest from both of us to warrant a face-to-face interview. The manager did explain that he's not received much response to the posting and has actually had prior candidates take other positions while waiting for Eaton to make a decision. I was advised that he would still be phone interviewing candidates for a few more weeks and then he'd get back to me to set up a face-to-face interview. The few weeks passed and I decided to call the HR person to get a status check. She didn't answer so I left a voice message. Within a few minutes I received the rejection email. I was a bit shocked at the lack of courtesy. One would think a brief conversation would be in order. (That's what I always did if I spoke to a candidate for a position I had available.) Oddly enough I'm still seeing this job posting regularly on LinkedIn. I'm thinking that I was lucky the interview process didn't go any further as I don't believe the hiring manager knows what he wants. Further, any company so impersonal is not where I want to work.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None of the questions were particularly challenging. In fact for any of them there were many different answers that could be given. All of which would be acceptable pending exactly what the business strategy is and the personal characteristics of the stakeholders.
