      Tax Graduate Interview

      18 Jan 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Dixon Wilson in Nov 2025

      Interview

Submit application --> online assessments --> virtual interview. I interviewed with two employees, a senior member of HR and a tax supervisor. The interview was mediocre; it was formal and I found the interviewers to be rather stiff and unenthusiastic – nothing outwardly wrong with them but not engaging people. They didn't demonstrate much passion for the job and didn't give me an opportunity to ask questions at the end which was unexpected. Seemed more of a box-ticking exercise, they were rattling off questions without follow-ups / any conversational element. The interview was also extremely comprehensive and thorough, they really left no stone unturned - you need to deeply understand the company, culture, job specification, professional qualification pathway, soft skills, and technical knowledge (although this was low-level for the graduate position). If you aren't completely polished on pretty much Dixon Wilson's website you will be caught out. It's especially important to have clear motivations for the firm in particular – which can be difficult as they are a pretty bog-standard accountancy/tax firm and don't have an especially prestigious reputation; their website is pretty similar to any other tax/accountancy firm - and also to demonstrate clear commitment towards balancing the requirements of the role with study towards professional qualifications. The deep emphasis on this was a slight red flag as reviews have highlighted a poor work-life balance, so Dixon Wilson is probably looking for a certain type of person to be a perfect fit for their culture. Overall an average process, I probably wouldn't apply again but I suggest everyone does their own research to determine if applying is worth it.
