Interview
Applied online with an initial application, submitted an an essay, requested 2 LORs from faculty. Interview began in room with a current nurse resident in my chosen track, was moved to the panel (PICU manager, current nurse resident in my chosen track, and a nurse in charge of the nurse residency). I was asked 8-10 behavioral questions, then moved into a case study.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cook Children's Health Care System in Jun 2022
Interview
I applied by going to their website and seeing what I needed before the deadline. I had to write 3 short responses, send my transcripts and have 2 letters of recommendation sent on my behalf. The approximate date to hear back was accurate. I then had an interview with a panel. First I was introduced to a current nurse resident and had the opportunity to ask questions. Then I had my interview and had the opportunity to ask questions at the end. Everyone was SO kind.
They asked questions related to a case study. I expressed my nerves and they reassured me that this section of the interview was not weighted as heavily. Each question built on the next. For example, a patient comes into the ED, and then all the steps you would go through in terms of assessments, orders, etc. I expressed my nerves about never actually examining a child in the ED and they were very kind and told me I was doing well.
Welcome to Cook Children's! We are so glad that you have decided to join the Nurse Residency program. Our residency works hard to make sure we meet our communication deadlines to the candidates.
