I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Civil Service Fast Stream (London, England) in Dec 2020
Interview
I was impressed with the online Assessment Centre, it went smoothly and seemed less nerve-wracking than in person. Also, it being online meant that it was shorter!
There are 5-6 people in each online Assessment Centre and 3 stages.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Three stages: Group Exercise, Analysis Exercise and Case Study Exercise.
Hard, time consuming, rushed even though it was long and took nearly all day. Felt awkward over zoom, would have preferred it to be in person. Interviewers were nice. Long took nearly all day. Very competitive.

Interview
The interview process was structured and professional, with clear communication throughout. Questions focused on competencies and situational judgment, requiring thoughtful, well-structured answers. Preparation is essential—especially understanding the Civil Service Behaviours framework. The panel was friendly and supportive, creating a fair atmosphere despite the challenging nature of the questions. Feedback was constructive and provided promptly. Overall, a thorough and transparent process that tests both analytical skills and values alignment.
