      Reporting Analyst Interview

      18 Jan 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Wilton, CT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Bridgewater Associates (Wilton, CT) in Jan 2012

      Interview

I applied via their website and eventually received an email from one of their recruiters asking for my availability for the next 2-3 weeks to schedule an interview, which I promptly supplied. About a week later I received an email from him with an interview date, though it was for a day that I did not indicate I had availability. Nonetheless, I rearranged my schedule to accommodate the interview. The following day I received another email from him telling me the interview had to be rescheduled. So I changed my schedule around for nothing. After setting a new date, I received links to two personality tests which were to be completed prior to my interview. The tests were interesting but overkill in my opinion. When I went to the interview, I first met with the hiring manager, who gave me an overview of the position and then spent a good deal of time on the company’s culture. I then met with 2 other people whose sole purpose was to delve into my psyche looking for flaws. Apparently, this is the culture of this organization, one that is not for everybody. Last, I took an Excel test which was not difficult but was timed, so there was only so much I could get through. I was there for about 3.5 hours. I must have done well though because a couple of weeks later I received an email from the recruiter looking to set up a second interview. After the psychological inquisition I had already been through, I questioned the expectations of this second appointment, considering I was told to expect to spend another half day there. I was told I’d meet with a few more people, review video tapes about their culture, followed by a Q&A session on said videos. I wasn’t excited about the notion of being grilled again but agreed to go along for the ride anyway. The recruiter asked for my availability for a specific week to which I responded I was available every day that week except for one. 9 days later I received a response with an interview date. Unfortunately, I now had other commitments on the date in question so I provided my availability for the following week. 8 days later I received a response with another date for the interview. Again, by that time I had already scheduled another appointment for that day but gave him my availability for the following week. 11 days later I received an email asking for my availability for yet another week, which I once again promptly provided. 2 weeks later I received an email saying that an offer had been made to another candidate. I never received a phone call from him. All communication was done via email. All of my responses were made either the same day of the request or the following day. I then waited about 10 days on average to get a response. Obviously, given that amount of time my schedule and availability had changed.
