The company currently only has BI Reporting roles in-house but lacks the Data Engineering talent needed to build scalable infrastructure. There is a significant gap in technical awareness which gave off an amateur vibe. The current team is hiring for end-state goals without realizing they lack the architectural foundation to actually sustain them. You shouldn't have the interior designers tell the structural engineers how the building should be built. They are hiring out of order and don't seem to realize it.
Another red flag was the recruiter stated during the call that they would not honor the upper limit of the compensation band listed in the job description. This is illegal in the state of Massachusetts.
