What is the hiring process like at Wells Fargo?

      Wells Fargo reviews

      Not a lot of positives

      Pros

Experience in sales. Guaranteed hours. Upfront PTO

      Cons

Stunted growth. The company always has initiatives and expects employees to be able to perform the Focus D'joure while understaffing the entire city. HR takes months to hire positions. Compliance is set up to make employees fail. Internally, the documentation and training it takes to be compliant is not clear. So many good team members were instantly fired during my time there for making a mistake that they shouldn't have even had the opportunity to make. Wells Fargo's products are not competive at all. The company expects you to look clients straight in the face and try to sell them on an inferior Wells Fargo alternative (Loan, Credit Card, Checking account, etc) to what they are happy with at another bank. Every one involved in the conversations (banker, teller, customer) knows what Wells Fargo has is inferior but here we are having this embarassing conversation. The bank knew this and would coach us to sell clients on the high level of service provided at Wells Fargo. The service was always understaffed because the hiring process and the wages offered by Wells Fargo weren't competitive.

      The hiring process is Bias

      Pros

Nothing nice to say about the management

      Cons

The hiring process is fundamentally broken under the current management. Hiring managers—mostly from India or South Asia—repeatedly favor candidates from their own cultural background, often handpicking individuals from their personal networks who speak the same language or come from the same region. This happens regardless of how qualified or competitive other candidates may be. It’s not about merit—it’s about familiarity. In my own experience, I was handed a predefined list of interview questions, and it was obvious that the favored candidates had been prepped in advance. They knew exactly what to expect during the 30-minute interviews, turning the whole process into a formality rather than an actual evaluation. What’s worse, management seems more interested in protecting their own positions than building a strong team. They intentionally hire people who will fall in line—those who won’t challenge decisions and will simply say “Yes, sir” to everything. It’s a system built on bias and control, not on talent or vision. This approach not only stifles innovation but also damages the credibility and long-term success of the organization.

      Pros

None, the recruitment process is terrible with any lack of thought for potential candidates.

      Cons

Absolutely appalling recruitment process. I’ve been through 4 rounds of interviews and made it to the final round, to then be ghosted by HR, Recruitment and any of the Hiring Managers, despite making a few attempts to follow up to ask for feedback. I am disappointed by the lack of response or thought to even send a generic rejection email. I would expect more from a company of this size. Completely unacceptable to treat potential candidates in this way.

No pros, boot leaking of manager is culture in Wells Fargo Investment Banking operation

      Cons

Investment Banking operation set up 3.5 years, there is no value of employees who help to set up the operation, if you need growth then need to do boot leaking of your manager to ladder your career growth, they think by paying high salary means they are doing favor to employees, its structural problem in the company which mgmt is not understanding at ground level, lot of favoritism, with internal politics to support good book employees, one side they talk about Investment Banking job other make you to do copy paste and logo pasting job, with vision of management They changed the policies every 3 month to be in there favour so that employees never get promotion Complete imbalance in hiring process
