      Salary Negotiations

      Executive Director
      10mo

I am a high performer and in line for another promotion to AVP. I have a good boss, flexibility and earn 200k+. But the company has been crumbling for years, strategy is aimless, CEO is a joke I have been “quiet cracking” for several years. Job market is challenging right now, but I’m also trying to prioritize mental health and happiness. I’m looking to have a conversation with my boss (SVP) about a buyout package. For those with this experience - Tips? Duration of agreement? Amount?

      Jobs in Startups 🌱

I'm the founding designer for a pre-funding AI startup (content side, not software). I have 15 yrs experience, and already co-founded another startup (with a good exit), I'm not interested in taking equity and putting in years of work. I want to work a set perdion of time (about a year), and get paid based on time put in if funding is secured. I work about 15 hrs/week on this project and handle branding, app design, design system, etc...What's a fair monthly amount to ask for?

Will “AI efficiencies” finally force agencies to change how they bill? We’re reliant on billable hours, and if AI actually delivers what it promises and increases efficiencies that means there’s going to be fewer hours to bill. Lay off however many people you want, but the agency is still going to be billing fewer hours and not making as much money. Does any shop have a robust enough new business model to match that? Is there even that much work out there?

I just found out our competitors have a no-questions-asked expense policy for client dinners, while I have to justify a $50 lunch. It’s hard to wine and dine big stakeholders when I’m worried about an audit from some guy in accounting. My OTE is decent, but the lack of a real travel/entertainment budget is making it harder to close big deals. Is a generous T&E budget a deal-breaker for you when looking at a new firm?

Does anyone have any advice for an incoming accounting advisory intern? I know that deal advisory is very competitive and I am thankful for the opportunity but I am worried about performing well and receiving a return offer especially in this economy. Is there anyone who is also in deals or interned there and got a return offer that can offer me any advice? Thanks! EY KPMG PwC Deloitte

Does anyone work at a firm where the executives actually lead by example when it comes to spending? Our department’s travel budget for the year is larger than the combined salaries of the entire junior staff. The partners are flying business class to networking events in Dubai while we’re being told there’s no room for a market adjustment on our base pay.

What’s K&E restructuring group actually like? You hear all the horror stories, but I’m a 3rd/4th at a v40 pulling 2300ish working on deals that are basically all mid market. Thinking about getting K&E on the resume and maybe gunning there for a while. How bad could it actually be if you don’t mind billing a shitload. Thoughts?

Sense check please: does this sound realistic for an experienced software sales role targeting the US public sector (Florida-based, proven sector experience)? Avg deal size ~$20k, Target ~35 deals/year (~3/month). Annual quota ~$708k, based on $170k OTE (50/50 split: $85k base / $85k commission) and a 12% commission rate.

EA in Fintech (Silicon Valley) - It's been 15 months. No raise, promotion, or proper bonus. The C's I support gave me nominal monetary gifts for Christmas and Administrative Professionals Day. I'm at $125k, but I feel like I should be at $175k minimum. I feel stuck. Suggestions welcome!

Price first, or? When qualifying during a disco call, do you all discuss the investment before moving along to the next stage (demo stage for me)? Typically asking about budget in this industry goes no where and they almost all say “no we haven’t set aside money for this”
