Anyone has been rejected because of background verification process. What could be the possible scenarios for rejection.

My all three rounds done at Pwc including HR round and salary discussion last week on 20th May,they told will generate offer letter in 1 or 2 days but still there is no communication from them on this, I am waiting for Offer letter to put my papers in current company, Can anyone tell me am I going to receive any offer or not in this case from Pwc as it's pretty weird as I have already sent all Salary and docs for verification also and shud I send them a mail and ask or it will look unprofesional
Off topic: In an arranged marriage setup, How difficult would it be to live life with a girl who has spent her entire life in a village and graduated in arts with vernacular medium from a tier-3 town.
