I just finished my loop today omg so long š« and a lot of repetitive questions as well. Regardless the team I interviewed with seems to be great so hopefully I get some good news soon.
Update: yes I received an offer and I worked there for a year and a few months and was pushed out due to RTO. Overall a terrible company to work for but the pay was great š
Completed all 8 rounds and then got the bad news :)
Same here, completed 8 rounds and invited for a call from the recruiter. Thought itād be a good news but went other ways.
The 3 screening calls for me very really simple and straight forward, I think most people would pass them if they followed the STAR format. The loop on the other hand was intense, I used up my 23 situation/behavioural examples. Got the job 3days later.
Good luck to everyone interviewing! I'd say prepare to have 3-6 questions per interviewer.
If you make it to phone screen (i.e., past resume review, recruiter screen), around 1 in 4.5 make it past phone screen to loop. For those that make it to loop, about 1 in 3 get an inclined offer. For those that think itās overkill, Iāll just make a couple quick comments. First, in most cases itās really just two āroundsā (a phone screen and a loop), and Amazon is typically very responsive in getting you responses to both (each within a few business days, but yes there are always exceptions and outliers to this). The second comment is related to the loop, which has separate interviews each independently focused on different competencies. For the candidate, this is helpful to get a balanced and unbiased evaluation (e.g., each person has to independently write their feedback and evaluation prior to seeing or hearing what others thought). For Amazon, the company would rather miss on not hiring a candidate than hire one that doesnāt meet the hiring bar. Thereās a heavy focus on cultural (leadership principle) fit, which also contributes to a culture that makes internal transfers relatively easy and encouraged. I think there are far more people that enjoy the culture than those that do not, but people who complain tend to be the most vocal, plus thereās some conflation between the corporate culture and the operations/warehouse culture, which are quite different.
Thank you for the thoughtful reply! I just had my HR call screening today. Based on this, does that mean if I pass the next step is the loop?
It's a tedious process and you've to grow a thick skin. I'd prepare every time like I prepared for the first round. I'm due for the last round (s) with 5 interviews pending, 60 minutes each. So you really have to bring your A game. Rejection could be for multiple reasons not necessarily because you're not a good candidate. I'd recommend watching "DayOne Careers" videos on YouTube (no this is not sponsored) they are ex-Amazonians and have great insight into the process! At the end of the day, everything happens for good and it's not the end of the world. Good luck!
I went through the whole loop last month. No offer. Was gutted. Such a long process to get a no, but I learned a lot!
Thatās where I am today. It took the wind out of my sails and I am trying to figure out if I want to go through it all again.
Actually would be interested in this. I thought the screening calls were easy so I doubt many people donāt make that. At least 3 out of 5 of my interviewers didnāt seem to have looked at my CV (had no idea I had a banking background - I spent 8 years in banking and 3 years in tech, so not something thatās easily missed). My guess is that most people make it to the loop but would be curious on stats.
Got a rejection today soon after phone screen šš„²
Same. I had two HR screens and got the rejection the next morning. I think I haven't work on enough exciting "innovative" projects for Amazon.
Has Amazon ever considered that their excessive interviews are terrible candidate experience and a turn off? The number of interviews just felt extremely like overkillā¦.especially while they donāt have the best reputation culturally from a public perspective. Im not understanding why certain companies think this supports their ability to attract talent in a competitive market. I would think a good percentage of top talent would think ā¦why am I subjecting myself to this when there are hundreds of other large companies that pay very well and donāt put you through this unnecessary guantlet of interviews. At the very least do them as one or two panels to avoid a candidate having to take a full day off from work to interview. Ridiculous !
Iāve heard the acceptance rate is 1 in 50
Good thing I havenāt gotten my hopes up! š
